The Acer Aspire One D150
I really don’t like that Acer insist on adding the ‘Aspire One’ part to name of all their netbooks. The name becomes too long and it becomes hard to distinguish their different models.
The weird naming isn’t putting of buyers, Acer are the giants of the netbook crowd, the number one seller worldwide and in reliability and customer satisfaction they consistantly score near top marks.
With the new D150 (the first 10″ netbook from Acer) the company has pulled out all the stops to ensure this is their best netbook to date. But is it? Will it continue to keep them ahead of the competition? To find out read on.
What is the new Acer 150 like?
This new Acer is a beautiful looking machine. The casing looks like it is made from a polished metal, whilst the design is smooth and rounded and thin. Incredibly thin, yes I know all netbooks are ‘slim’ but this one makes other machines look like bricks. Imagine if apple made a macbook air netbook (if only!), definitely gives a good idea of what to expect with the the design of this machine.
With the machine being much slimmer than rivals, this also makes for a much lighter machine. Weighing in at only 1.18kg (with battery attached) the machine is almost 50% lighter than most netbooks out there on the market.
With the design, the looks and the weight the Acer D150 is simply a stunning package. If you saw one of these machines next to any other netbook on the market today, you would want this one.
Is it worth buying?
Well yes, the machine is not only handsome; but it is also very usable. The screen uses Acers lovely ‘crystal bright’ technology, the keyboard (even on a 10” machine) is an excellent size and layout, containing a staggering 84 keys. Also included are built in web cam for intenet video sharing, microphone, 3 x USB (so you can plug in all your devices iphones, scanners, printers etc), a 3-in-1 card reader for camera memory cards…. In short everything you come to expect from a full priced laptop or desktop PC is possible with this tiny £250 machine.

Conclusion
Whilst there are some netbooks on the market that may have a bit more memory and an extra hour or two of battery life, nothing comes close to the D150 on overall package. The machine is exactly everything a netbook should be: powerful, stylish and functional.
