Samsung N510 Netbook

Other than the NC20, Samsung’s netbooks have been the laptop equivalent of the Nolan Sisters: There are some small differences between them, but only their husbands could tell you which is which. 10” screen, great keyboard, gig of RAM, etc. (the netbooks that is, not the Nolans).

But the N510 is different…

  1. It’s bigger: 289mm x 199mm x 30mm.
  2. It’s heavier: 1.5kg.
  3. It packs in a 6-cell battery as standard. (around 7 hours battery life)
  4. Most importantly – it has a beautiful 11.6” screen with 1366 x 768 resolution.

The weight & size don’t make much of a difference in your bag, but the increased resolution is really noticeable. Using it feels like you’ve just upgraded from a 14” telly to a 20”.

Aside from that, it packs in all the great features we’ve come to expect from Samsung’s netbooks: Tremendous build quality, understated looks, 802.11n wireless, webcam, and decent sound.

All-in-all ideal for anyone looking to take a step up from an NC10, or a step down from a bulky laptop to a netbook – without losing the comfortable screen you’re used to.

The Windows XP version is out now. We’re looking forward to the Windows 7 version & the rumoured enhancements they’ve built in there.
