Samsung N310 Specification

The beautiful Samsung N310 is a little different to the rest of the Samsung N range. While its brothers & sisters feature crisp, modern lines, the N310 has curved edges and a large block type ‘SAMSUNG’ printed on the lid.
The Case
The ruggedised N310 case vaguely looks like something you might see being hauled out of the back of a car in a bond movie, perhaps containing weapons-grade plutonium, or a vial of ultra-toxic chemicals. In summary: If you like people to ask you about your netbook on the train, this is probably a decent option for you.
What’s Going On Inside?
Inside, the N310 features the familiar ‘all-rounder’ spec of the Samsung N series. This is actually somewhat surprising, as the N310’s superior looks PLUS the great spec should really mean the N310 costs more than its siblings. In fact it’s around the same price.
Here are the key bits:
- Windows XP Home (a great option – compatible with all software out there, without draining resources too much)
- Intel Atom 1.6GHz Processor (more-or-less the flagship netbook processor)
- Built-in webcam (for skype and other video conferencing applications)
- Antibacterial, ergonomic >90% keyboard (large enough to type on for a long period of time, with comfortably arranged keys)
- 10.1″ widescreen display (and – this is key – an output for using an external monitor while you’re at home or in the office)
- 160GB hard drive (still today, most office machines come with a standard 40GB or 80GB hard drive. This is easily plenty for you on-the-move)
- 3-in-1 card reader (for extra storage, transferring movies, photos, etc)
- Built-in wifi
Is there Anything Bad About This Thing?
Perhaps the one area where Samsung missed a trick here was the battery life. Where other machines keep going for up to 11 hours, the N310 lasts just 3 or 4. The focus here is most definitely on style and weight, rather than a fully portable office machine. Recommended for students and commuters, rather than ‘all day’ users.
