Netbook App Store

Intel app store

We’ve all heard of the hugely successful Apple App Store. So successful it’s delivering over 100-million app downloads a month.

Well now Intel are looking to copy the idea, with the “Netbook App Store”…

Take a look over at the newest addition to intel.com, the Intel Atom Developer Program. The plan is to get developers creating apps for netbooks, get the App Store pre-installed on netbooks, and run it in a very similar way to the iPhone App Store.

Intel claim to have developers signed up already, building social networking, photo, video and security apps. They will give 70% of any revenue made through the app store direct to developers.

The question is – will this take off with users?
